a bit too much ?

I made a few cards today, including two get well cards, one here is for a work mate for us all to sign, I don't know her that well, and I am worried the card is a bit messy with a bit too much on it.
I am still in my pink and green phase, I don't have many stamps yet, and only have one stamp set that dose get well cards, but no one getting any of them knows anyone else!
they are hobby art stamps from the Rainy Day Set.

The other one can't be shown here, in case a c
ertain sick person is reading it and she hasn't got the card.....so...er....here's a picture of Poppy,

who has dug a hole, and lay in
it with her squeeky ball and for some reason a small but heavy concrete dog!

Anyway.................

Emma, has a great blog candy on just now, to celebrate her getting
10k hits! so she offered a voucher from poppicrafts and the lovely Michelle donated it! I have just been to her site and bought some lovely , lovely brads!
oh....and question for anybody.....how do you add on the blog layout a list of blogs I like to visit, showing when they post a new blog?

much love to you

not in use?

I have started wandering around looking at other folks blogs, mainly from Emma's page, and I discovered Cathy's . She asked on her blog candy this question, " All you have to do is tell me what craft stuff you need to cut down on?"
And I was thinking, what do I need to cut back on?
The answer is not much really, I have stuff I was never sure what to do with, and stuff I got in magazines but was not colors I would usually mix. But the class I go to on a Tuesday and inspiration from other bloggers sites have given me new ideas......
I know I pasted this picture on a post earlier on today but the pinks and greens in this is a combo I would never have used. The flowers & embossing I learned how make at class and the stamping I am loving after giving up on due to many previous rubbish attempts! AGAIN Tuesday's class has shown me all the ways I was going wrong! thank goodness for education!

payment for poppy sitting

The dreaded lurgy is almost passed, regular steaming with Lavender & tea tri oil helped no end.
And I am so thankful it was nothing serious like Man Flu!
Anyway......the need for opal fruits has passed as well.
Just as well, I was seriously eating way too many of them.
Wasn't quiet on first name terms with the shop keeper....

So tomorrow is the last session of the prepare to adopt course our local council runs.
It's an all day session and our lovely friend Fiona is Poppy sitting tomorrow, not sure her
Auld doggy Bailey will be happy having this mad wipper snapper back again!
Bailey was my lovely old Tilly Dog's older brother from the same litter.
He mumbles and moans and is getting old and slow. He is so funny.
We left Pops and Uncle Bailey while we went for a meal last Saturday.
On return we discovered he had opened living room and escaped upstairs,
I was worried about Fiona's three cats, but needn't have!
Brownie was holding her own! Poppy was hiding in the kitchen while Brownie sat and watched her peeping round the corner! Pops was very relieved to see us return!

I decided to give Fiona a wee selection of cards as a thank you for Poppy sitting. Not sure what I did wrong with pasting pics of the cards...but hey ho!

opal friuts, flowers and sneezes

this beautiful card arrived in the post today from the wonderful Gill, thanks my lovely!its hand stitched and just beautiful! It really cheered me up! and reminded me to make more of an effort to post stuff to mates.
Rememebered it was Simon's birthday er,,, Tuesday and Rob's erm...yesterday...did I make cards ....Yes....did I post them ....No.

Ach well i will get them posted with note saying 'sorry it's late' today if I can get going.
I have avoided the lurgy at work for several weeks now....but it found me today!
It may explain how I took so long to make the baby card yesterday!
I have done nothing today but eat opal fruits....I know the packet says starbursts
but they are opal fruits I tell you!

Emma states these are not good for you.......but I don't know...
do they not count as at least one of your 5 a day?? Is this similar to blog candy??

I tried to convince Poppy that sitting in the garden was better than a walk, she had been walked by Andrew before he went on afternoon shift......but all she did was attack the beautiful livingstone daisies .....

I guess if I get going and go know on Ben the collies door, his mum will let him out to play and she will run with him for a bit....

Then after that I will make dinner for myself....
Opal fruits and a side salad anyone??

baby card blues.......

Friends had a new baby Boy and I had time, stuff and an need to make a card.....
sounds good so far, but, I sat down, and nothing.
I could not think of nothing.......
I had some pretty papers and stamps and pictures that I knew would make something nice.
But not one idea came to mind.
I looked on various friends sites, I googled home made cards.
Did that help?

NOPE!

So I did laundry, hovering, made dinner, did dishes, walked Poppy,
all sorts of stuff.
Kept coming back to the card and then leaving it again.
With nothing done to it.

Funny how I can always make cards to avoid doing the above chores!

Anyway....I eventually got going and am 70% happy with end result.
I love the front and I love how its a fold up card that is a bit more than
just a plain card. But I am thinking it is messy now.

I will need to post it before I start taking it to bits.......

Past present and future....

two posts in one day! ...
this week I have been doing a lot of soul searching,
mainly due to us doing the prepare to adopt classes....
and three times this week people have said sometime
to me that has really made me think about who I was and who I am now.

Earlier this week a lady from my past approached me.
She spoke about when her mum died.
I nursed her mum and was with her when she died.
This happened quite some years ago.
She was thankful how easy I made it for her being with her mum.
I was proud of the Nurse I was.
I don't often feel that pride in myself these days.

The second was my lovely Husband, when we spoke at the adoption class about loss in our lives.
I have often thought about our loss at not being able to have a child.
I have thought about the birth family having a loss, for whatever reason not being able to stay a family with their child.
But I never gave as much thought to the loss the child would have to go through to become our child.
I knew they would have been through difficult times to get to the point they were offered to us, but I never thought about their loss of identity , loss of parents, grandparents, siblings, etc.
When we spoke about loss, and what made it better, my husband said looking at me, that I had made it better..... heart melting moment!

Tonight one of the lovely ladies in the card group spoke about how her husband had been in a long term foster placement as a child.
And how it made such a positive difference in the outcome of his life.
I hope she doesn't mind me posting this, and I am aware they have all taken Emma's blog link, so may read this.
After hearing many people tell me since I " came out " all about adoption & about all the bad beliefs they have about it, how hard it will be, how we could get a child with so many problems, how it wont be the same as having our real baby.....it made such a nice change for someone to say, it can be a good thing, it can be a life changing experience for a child and now in her husbands case and adult life.....and you know what it really was something I needed to hear.
It really reminded me of a bloody good reason for adopting.

Because it will make a difference to somebody, not just me and Andrew, but a child.
Who will be our child.

That's a really good thought for the future....when it gets tough and I am under no illusion it will all be easy......it's something I should hang on to.

cards

I have enjoyed card making for some time now,
some of the things I make I really like,
some I think what a waste of paper & glue!
But mostly thats more about how I feel in myself
sometimes than the result of my card making efforts!
The above card I love, it's something I would never have done myself,
but was shown how to in card making class I have joined in town.
I found it difficult to take the plunge in joining a group,
still feeling nervous among new people.
I was just getting settled into the group and then due to changing Poppy's Puppy class night I moved to a Tuesday evening.
I met Emma there...I am settling right into the Wednesday class now.
And really enjoying what we make.
I need to take more pictures and keep a better blog....I think I have said that before and not done it.....ahhh well, tomorrow is another day!
