cat's whiskers

Stay well back.....
Germ alert!

I am still feeling really rubbish with
a nasty cold/viral lurgy thing
that I have had for over a week now.

I ended up coming home and going for a snuggle
with Miss Bella Boo this afternoon.

Turning 40 sucks! LOL.

Anyway.....one card to show you.
Got it finished last night,
after promising a lady at work
I would make a card for her daughter.

Anything with animals,
penguins,
cats,
dogs.....
Well I did one with a penguin
but it looked too much like an Xmas card.
I guess I can add it to the very small pile
of Xmas cards I have got done.

Nitwit papers and topper thingys
from local shop were used.

It is an eseal card where a wee accetate cube
makes the handsome black puss sits
holds the back panel forward.

I think I might have to take my cards into
work to photograph, as they are much better
than my latests efforts at home!

hope you are all grand!

thanks a bunch

Last bunch of thank you cards....
I made others but posted them with out
remembering to take photos!
DUH!

Some more 10cm easel cards.
I really like these wee cute sizes.
All made using craftwork card papers.

I like this one, flower stamp is from a See D set.

This one..... I am not so sure off,
It looks nothing like I had imagined it would.

Last one of the small cards.
I love the flower, stamped onto backing papers
and wording just shows through the
promarkers I used to colour.

Might add some more to this,
but really like the pearls in the centre.

Two bigger cards,
This one is for the folks at my work,
need to give it another tap
to get rid of the excess glamour dust.

Last one.....Honest!
I really like this one.
No idea who this will be for!

Hope you all had a lovely weekend.
Back to work for me tomorrow.

thank you, thank you, thank you x

Well turning 40 didn't hurt at all!
I had a lovely day, even though I have been
sneezing and sniffing all week
with another blasted cold.

Thank you to everyone who
left me Birthday Wishes.

{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}

I received some beautiful cards
from bloggy mates, and once I get
some photos taken, I will proudly
show them on here!

Thank you cards are now required,
have only managed to get four done so far.

They are 10cm easel cards.

I enjoyed using craftwork papers
and card candy on them all.
Got a fair few still to make!

The first one I made.

This is the one I like the best.

A wee bit of heat embossing used on this one.

I really am needing to improve my photo taking skills!

Hope you are grand.

Happy Thanksgiving

to all those who celebrate !

Naughty Fourty!

WOTWW!

This week, its a special WOYWW for me.....
I turned Naughty 40 today!

This is a sneaky peak of something I am pottering away with.

More of that when it is finished.
I think I might need to re-do the image,
I am not too happy with her colouring yet.

I have taken this week off work,
and was surprised, by this wonderful
red velvet cake from my work mates,
along with a beautiful card and
gift voucher for a comp therapy place!
Bliss!!

Just as the boss announced that we were not allowed
to light the candles, the fire alarm went off and
we all waited eagerly for firemen to appear!
Seems one of the ward had set the alarm off
by making toast.....AGAIN!
But no firemen for us!

So that was last week's cake....LOL.

This is today cake!
My Hubby made this for me,
using a new cook book from friend Anita,
who made the red velvet cake above!
How clever is he!?!

I got a wonderful surprise when I opened
this package from Kath & Buddy!
Not only was there a beautiful birthday card,
but there was an amazing altered box!

Please pop over to Kath's blog to see
more photo's of this work of art!

And inside the box,
LOTS and LOTS of goodies!!!

Link
Thank you so much!
It is just beautiful!

My girls were more impressed with doggy chocs
from the smooth Mr Buddy.
He is a really ladies dog !

Many hugs and kisses from me to you!

new home birdie

Typical.....
I have made my craft room
into a spare room for a friend to stay,
and I have loads of ideas of things to make
and time to play with my new inks and stamps.

Another friend is moving into her
new home, after many weeks
of alterations keeping her
at her Mam's house.
She loved my home made jams,
so a gift bag with jams in it
will be delivered to her new door!

I will be honest,
it is not how I imagined it to end up.
But I quite like it.

I don't like making the bags
themselves too fussy,
so the eye is taken
to the tag itself.

Hope you are all grand

black & white.

No one likes doing sympathy cards,
but, for me, the fact someone cared
enough to make or send a card,
has meant a lot in a time of grief.

And, afterwards.........
it was even more important
to be able to take them all out, and
take time to really look at them.

Time previously had passed in a blur,
too busy getting things organised,
and getting through each event.

Not sure how this became so sad.....
Anyway..........

As much as I hate making sympathy cards,
they are important to me
to try & get them right.

They seem to take me so long to make,
even though I always want them to be simple
and not at all fussy.

This card took me three attempts,
I messed up getting the position
of the stamp right the first time,
I should have stamped it then
cut it out with my nestie.
Then I got an inky finger on it.....
The card may have been black & white
but the air was very blue!

Third time was better.
But my ribbon is not where I wanted it!

Anyway......I actually quite like the end result.

I am enjoying having a friend to stay this weekend,
and have all next week
I hope you are all grand,
and having a lovely weekend.

Yule Baubles.

I just adored this Xmas card
we made at Kate's card class the other week.
The stamping up punch and stamps
are really classy, and the colour
combo is one I love for Xmas.

Now I am not a fan of Xmas,
for many reasons.
It tends to be a huge stress factor for me.
You would think the fact I have not made
hardly any cards by this late date
would be stressfull....
But I am not worring about it
at all this year.

Anyway, I spent the afternoon,
stamping & punching.
I tried out various different inks
and a few types of card.

My fave ink turned out to be my new
distressing Xmas inks.

This was my Wednesday workdesk today.

So......taking inspiration from this pretty
backing paper I have been hording for some time,
I went with an unusual colour combo.

I really liked this, and have someone
special in mind for it already.

This one also has a new home in mind.
I tired to keep it simple and clean,
but am not sure it is not missing something.

Last one, and it may end up in the bin.
I can not decided if I like
it or it looks messy.......

The white snowflakes are embossed,
the ink is the same xmas distressing inks.

Hope you are all grand.

buttons, bunnies and dots.

I am trying to keep my spare room,
or as it is now,
my craft room tidy.
A friend is coming to stay on
Friday for a few days.....
but I have had a couple of things to make.
And it looks like a a bomb has gone
off in there again!!!
Ach well.....
I will soon get it sorted again.

Righto.....

a pen pot holder requested
by a bunny crazy friend.
I made this from a recycled cardboard
tube that is like a really hard, bigger inside
of a loo roll, from a label machine at work
These get binned when we change the roll.

I will be after a few more of these!!!

Sugar Nellie Cotton Bunny.
No idea what the papers are.

I learned a few new tips
for colouring using pro & flexmarkers
when I was at Debbi's class on Saturday.

I have had this beautiful ribbon for ages,
I can't remember where I got it,
and was loathed to cut it,
but needs must!

Talking about Debbi, and her fabby colouring....
I was chuffed to bits to get this
bonnie card from the Queen of Promarkers herself.

I keep practicing colouring hair......
But how beautiful and shiny does it look
on Debbi's card!

~~~~~T~~~~~
A late show......
A Kath inspired birthday card
for the birthday girl Kath!!
who also did a fab demo and class on Saturday!
Using a wee Sugar Nellie.
~~~~~T~~~~~

And another Kath inspired card
for my lovely friend Anita.

The bright colours match
Anita's personality.

~~~~~T~~~~~
Lastly.....
my little blood donor......
who is all recovered,
and loved the fact she got steak
in her evening meal for
a few days.
the first night it was just biscuits
she looked at it,
looked over at Poppy's dish....
and then looked back at me.....
"Where did the good bits go???"
I hope you are all grand.
New England Christmas
I really, really enjoyed the latest
Crafty Ribbon's Challenge
New England Christmas .
I loved this spotty ribbon,
and wasn't sure about pairing it
up with the green check paper,
but I loved the end card.
The stamp was finished off
with Crafty Ribbon buttons
for the boxed collection that
I played with in a previous challenge.
~~~~~T~~~~~

I loved the simpleness of this card.
Can you tell I love gingham papers??

Nesties to cut the white and checked paper,
with another crafty ribbon button on the bottom.

~~~~~T~~~~~
Taking the idea of the gingham xmas tree
made this card easy.
I adore the red "Merry Christmas" ribbon
used here for the sentiment.
Gingham hearts were punched out for the tree.
~~~~~T~~~~~

Last but not least.....
a tree decoration,
made all from ribbon.
The wide green base ribbon
was a delight to work with.
All bits sewn on were ribbons
from this challenge.

I dripped some ginger and orange
aromatherapy oils on it once stuffed,
and it was a tad strong,
so I put it aside for a few days
to calm down. LOL .
I am going to make some more
of these for my tree this year.

Can anyone advise me about watermarking
photo's of my cards online please?

One puppy to share today.
Our vet's nurse was telling us how
the staff at the practice use their
own dogs if blood is required
to transfuse dogs in need.

They have only one dog available at the
moment, and they can only donate
every three months if required.
They have only transfused
a few times in the last couple of years.

So I enquired more about it,
and my two fitted the criteria.

I was not sure how I would feel about
them donating at first, but if they needed
blood I would like to know that
someone would make it available for them.

On Sunday evening, John one of the vets
called to ask if I could bring one of them in.
A wee cocker spaniel was very poorly and needed blood.
So in I went with Bella, and even though she is only
just over 1 1/2 years old,
she was a wee star.
I was so very proud of her.
She was not at all scared,
and gave her unit with no fuss or anything.
Now she looks poorly here, But she really wasn't,
she was just sleepy, and had snuggled up with my mate.

She had her neck shaved to get access to the vein,
and the blood was cleaned away by Poppy the next day.
There is no bruise now or anything.

She was full of beans again the next day,
enjoyed a steak dinner, and will be having extra's
for a few days to get her back to full power!

Sadly,
the wee spaniel didn't make it.

But I have no regrets here,
I hope his owners will find small comfort
knowing that everything had been done
in an effort to help him.

SO.......that's all from here.....
best go cook more steak for Bella.....
and sort some left over chicken for Poppy,
who is allergic to beef.

Hope you are all grand.
Stay warm
