windy & cold....... perfect crafting weather!

I suppose it is winter, so we can't complain too much about the change in the weather.
In between laundry and other mundane house work I pottered in my craft room.
But didn't get many things finished.

I had another wee play with this card

I decided to move the silver stars onto the right hand side and black ones into the centre column.

So it now looks slightly different.

I am not sure if it was better the way it was.

Ach well.

Have half done a few cards and started a few ATC /tags.
will maybe get them finished tomorrow.

Now if I had managed to get Poppy to lie so both ears were showing I could have used this picture to make a bat card!

Last night she helped herself to the remote control.....today she found a bag of dog treats.

Warm & cosy craftin'!

Winter is a coming !

It is cold, wet and windy here in Moray this evening.
Mind you the clocks do go back on Sunday!

Andrew is on late shifts all week, so just me and Poppy here.

We braced the wind and went for a walk,
then home to some home made sweet potato and leek soup
with mild spices and coconut for me,
helped to take me to a warmer climate!

Both full after dinner, warm and cozy.
We settled down in the craft room,
her to sleep and me to do some challenges.

This altered Cd is for our friends wee girl who is either 4 0r 5....
I didn't put a number on it as I am almost certain she is 5....but not 100%

It is going into My Time to craft who are looking for personalised item.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These two are from a sketch challenge on Christmas & Birthday Cards.
Sketch is by the lovely Linda.
They post a sketch and you do a birthday & a Xmas card from the same sketch.
I will put the personalised sentiment when I decide who the card is for.
#1)
This is not a colour combo I have used much, but like.
I wanted to use up a bit of green and blue paper I had so took it from there.
#2 )
The backing papers on this pink & green card are from funky hands.
I think maybe a pink ribbon might have been better on this card but I like the end card.
I did send some time this afternoon sorting out backing for some unmounted stamps
with Emma & Belle. What a sticky job!
Then sorted out some things for posting but will blog them when they arrive safely.
All in all a good day.
love it and not so sure........
I found this sketch looking back on a site I found after being on Linda's blog.
Just Birthday and Christmas cards.
They put a sketch on each week and you make both a Birthday and Xmas card from same sketch.
They have done 3 sketches and this was #1.
I am half way through trying their other two sketches....just waiting on glue drying.
This one is made with my first bits of basic grey from the Eva range,
and the last of my mate Briony's home dyed material.
She is so clever and uses the material for quilting!
Tilda is from an image swap.
It is the most beautiful purple, with bits of cerise in it.
I almost didn't want to use it up !
I am happier with the colouring on from the whisper pens using the blending pen.
And I might change the sentiment in between the buttons.
This one.....*sigh* I bought a cuttle bug embossing folder a wee while back
and this is the first time I have used it.
I used wee drops of two different blue inks to highlight parts of it,
I liked how it ended up, and then I managed to smudge ink on the edge of it.....
so I decided to trim it so it was not wasted.
But now.....I really don't think I like it very much.
I put some navy ribbon behind it....and thought I might use it for the Secret Crafters Saturday Challenge that is blue, white and a few snowflakes....
but I think I will have another go at this one.
four for Shirleyanne.
I am making good headway through my own Christmas/Yule Blessings cards.
Planning to make a couple most days and I should be done well before they
need posting or delivering.
Well that's the plan!
So I offered to do four personal Christmas Cards for Shirleyanne to give to her immediate family.
She didn't want them to be too cutesie or slushie.
I made a sheets of sentiment tags with all the names of people I was making named cards for,
so I popped four more on to print.
I will layer them and apply to the cards when she decides who each card is for from the list.
But here are three of the four I have done for her.
The sentiment will go on the top left corner above the hedgehog on this one.
She loves cats. The cat & the hedgehog above, are from (I think)
a images swap from the lovely Natalie at NG Cards.
I love the scribbles snowman and have used him in lots of my cards this year.
Since my hubby made lots of veggies and pudding yesterday....and none of you have turned up for dinner, we enjoyed yummy leftovers with some grilled fish as he had gone to local fish mongers when he did the weekly shopping,
so minimal effort for dinner,
hardly any clear up
and crafting time for me!
Sunday chillin.....
My lovely Hubby has been very good at doing most of the cooking and stuff
while I have been poorly,
we used to do a lot of the cooking together but I did the bulk of it.
He has taking to making the meal when my mate Shirleyanne comes over for dinner at the weekend and we then spend the next few hours haven a giggle
while watching Alaskan crab fishing prog.....
Don't knock it till you have tried it!
It is addictive!!
He surpassed himself yesterday!
We had parma ham and other meats with melon platter....
(I did that !) lol
then he did grilled lemon soul, with black pepper and parsley,
mashed tatties with spinach ( need to boost my iron!)
and a veggie medley from our veggie box.
and for pudding sticky toffee pudding which was so light and yummmmmmy!
I made two cards while he was making pudding before Shirleyanne got here!!!
The backing papers are from forever friends that I heat embossed and layered
using pearl papers and cards, while the backing behind the stamped image is dyed material that my lovely mate Briony did. It is a beautiful deep purple with cerise dyed into it.
It is very beautiful material and I was in two minds whether to use it or keep it.
It is stitched onto the white pearl card using two different coloured threads.
This one I am entering it for the Sketch Saturday Challenge
The image is a forever friends sticker that came with a crafting magazine.
I am still not keen on FF but will use up what I have.
We wont eat evening meals again together till Friday as he is on late shifts all week,so just be me and Poppy.
and one more makes seven....ish....
Well yesterday I started to have a go at the sketch Saturday challenge....
but I managed to get distracted and carried away by a few of the pretty previous
sketch challenges and didn't do #19 which is this weeks one!!!
But here he is........
I have been looking for See D stamps with the Christmas stamp that was a simple "Joy"
and I found it on do crafts site half price!!!
They arrived today!
So had a wee play with them.....
The joy stamp is so simple but just so pretty....
Inside is a stamp with the meaning of Joy on it.
I love this Peace, Love & Joy stamp from one of the See D stamp sets.
The card is simple but pretty I think with the Black white and red on the pearly card
The backing papers are do crafts and the dove is a cuttle bug die.
I have decided to try and make a few Christmas cards each day and am not getting stressed about making many cards for particular people.....
Like I have done for the last few years.
This year I feel the need to keep it simple and enjoy making the cards for a change.
two stamps............six cards
After months of feeling absolutely awful....
waking up feeling pretty good today was a wonderful surprise!
Energy levels were not 100% but I felt pretty well!
I feel I am on the mend!
We often have our mate round for dinner on Saturday or Sunday,
so we usually have a bit of cooking and do.
My lovely hubby prepared all the veggies and and stuffing for Sunday Dinner,
I prepared the lamb to roast with garlic and herbs.
The house was tidy, the washing was out drying.......and a fantastic Raspberry and white chocolate cheese cake was setting in the fridge after we made it yeaterday!
And came out of the tin in one whole piece!!!!
I served it on a drizzle of home made Raspberry sauce with some Raspberrys and some slightly whiped double cream if you want the extra callories.....Like there wasn't enough on the plate!
It looked fab and tasted even better!!!
With all this done I thought I will go do a bit of crafting and make a couple Christmas cards.
I love these two stamps....
I bought them at Sally's shop Bee Crafty in Elgin, where I go to do my Tuesday Card Class.
The "let it snow" is a Do Crafts and the Scribbles snowman is Fun Stamps.
I had been looking at the Sketch Saturday site to have a go at their challenge,
I am relatively new to challenges and I had a wee I look back at previous sketches.
I loved the different layouts they had.
So I thought I would try some out, using the same two stamps on each one.
I managed six.....
I know pink and green seem popular in the shops for this years Christmas colours,
But I am still not sure about them together on a Christmas card.
But I think this one is my favourite!
I used lots of different techniques, in these cards, embossing, glitters, sukura pens, funky kits downloads, do crafts papers. pearly card, buttons, ribbons, jewels, cuttlebug embossing folder, mirror card, double sided sticky card, stuff from my stash.....all sorts!
You know what ....I never did this weeks sketch challenge!!!
But we only ate one piece of cheese cake each!!!
Hamish
I love sugar Nellie Stamps... my favourite has to be Hamish and Maggie.
I am lucky enough to have the shop that sells the worldwide in my local town...
I bought a new Hamish yesterday, wee chef Hamish...he is cute and I was planning on haven some craft time later on , but seemingly Emma has a few more Christmas cards for sorting....
ooh have you checked her Christmas Candy out yet?
Hamish will just have to wait!
But in true Blue Peter fashion...
and oh yes You know I have a Blue Peter badge....
here is a Hamish Card I made earlier!!
This one is to be entered for the This Thursday Challenge.....its is all about flags!
Have also entered it on the ABC Challenge too, which the layout came from .
I think it will used for my older brothers Birthday card next month.
Have a lovely Friday xxx
getting there......
WARNING CONTAINS NUDITY!!!
So I have had some serious crafting time this evening and
made some cards to get ontop with the pile I needed to make....
Some I am very pleased with....some could have done with a bit more work...
I don't normally get so behind with cards I need to do,
and also had a few extras I wasn't expecting.......the image swaps from Nessy & Natalie helped.
I haven't done any of the change off address ones...but that's a whole other story...
I did manage to make the New Home card.
The image on this card and the engagement card below are from Natalie. Thanks babe!
This one is quiet simple, and I am not sure about it....
It's a peel off with sukura pen ....
I love this one.
It started off being a pink card, but it developed into more browns
with some olive embossing down the deep brown border.
My cousin Zoe has just got engaged to the lovely farmer Alan!
Congratulations you two!
This one is for mates Fiona & Jim who have their 15th Wedding Anniversary next week.....
And its Jim's Birthday the same day.....
I actually coloured this image in but preferred it in black and white.
And as promised......here's some nudity!!!!!
It is where I get one of my fave statements from....
I can go from zero to bitch in 10 seconds flat!!!
(don't do it Emma....no comments needed about this at all!!!)
And REMEMBER!!!! Christmas cards for the troops
need to be received by Emma by Wednesday 1st October !!!
let it snow....no let it be fall xxx
Am still pottering around making the odd card now and again.
This one I like.
The backing paper is from funky hands I think......the stamped image was a PB from Chrissy.
And under the stamped image I blotted some brilliant white chalk inks. I love them!
It still seems too early to be making Christmas cards.
I love this time of year more, it really is a beautiful time of colours ....
I love the change into Autumn.
I took this on my camera phone today so the quality is not great but the colours are amazing!
Will wander out to the veggie stall later on today.....but I took this one last week.
It is enormous!
Tuesday's card class makes
Well last night's card class was much more enjoyable for me...cause I stayed awake this week!
Can't believe that I fell asleep there last week due to illness & disturbed nights.
We made again made a couple of cards but I can only show you one as the other one is for someone who reads this blog and needs to be kept hidden for a wee while.
but here is my Christmas pudding card....
I will put a peel off or a sentiment on the red plinth.
And you cant see it but the icing or butter brandy over the pudding is glittery.....
I bought the template to make this and you can use it for all sorts.
This is the template I used.....
I will make some more hopefully over the next few days.
Am planning to go round to Emma's over the next few days to get the Troops appeal cards that we have received sorted out.
THANK YOU for all the cards we have so far!!!!
Remember they have to be in before first of October.
Tuesday, 2 September 2008
jingle bells....jingle bells....NO NO NO!!!!
I am trying to get a few more cards made for Emma's troops appeal....
but it feels a bit wrong making Christmas cards....but then,
the stupid man on the local radio this morning reminded listeners...
there are only about 113 days left till Christmas......
ANYWAY!
the cards need to be at Emma's by the beginning of October.
The ladies at my card class at Sally's shop have said that when we will do a Christmas card evening they will all donate a card each to the appeal!
SO I am well chuffed with that!
Anyway....here are a few cards I have made.
The top two have already gone to Emma. Think that makes 4 or 5 now ....
I should have photographed them out of their cellophane bags!!! DUH!!!
And will take these to her today!
I am still not sure about pink Christmas cards...even though it seems to be pink and green for this years cards.....I do love Maggie and the pink ribbon that says make a wish is so sweet!
I love the simplicity of this one.... the lighting was not good on it, the card is plain white square.
black background and red gems on the funky hands background cut into a tree shape!
I love this one....I used Emma's sizzix to cut out loads of cookie men using brown card.....
