baby card blues.......

Friends had a new baby Boy and I had time, stuff and an need to make a card.....
sounds good so far, but, I sat down, and nothing.
I could not think of nothing.......
I had some pretty papers and stamps and pictures that I knew would make something nice.
But not one idea came to mind.
I looked on various friends sites, I googled home made cards.
Did that help?

NOPE!

So I did laundry, hovering, made dinner, did dishes, walked Poppy,
all sorts of stuff.
Kept coming back to the card and then leaving it again.
With nothing done to it.

Funny how I can always make cards to avoid doing the above chores!

Anyway....I eventually got going and am 70% happy with end result.
I love the front and I love how its a fold up card that is a bit more than
just a plain card. But I am thinking it is messy now.

I will need to post it before I start taking it to bits.......

Past present and future....

two posts in one day! ...
this week I have been doing a lot of soul searching,
mainly due to us doing the prepare to adopt classes....
and three times this week people have said sometime
to me that has really made me think about who I was and who I am now.

Earlier this week a lady from my past approached me.
She spoke about when her mum died.
I nursed her mum and was with her when she died.
This happened quite some years ago.
She was thankful how easy I made it for her being with her mum.
I was proud of the Nurse I was.
I don't often feel that pride in myself these days.

The second was my lovely Husband, when we spoke at the adoption class about loss in our lives.
I have often thought about our loss at not being able to have a child.
I have thought about the birth family having a loss, for whatever reason not being able to stay a family with their child.
But I never gave as much thought to the loss the child would have to go through to become our child.
I knew they would have been through difficult times to get to the point they were offered to us, but I never thought about their loss of identity , loss of parents, grandparents, siblings, etc.
When we spoke about loss, and what made it better, my husband said looking at me, that I had made it better..... heart melting moment!

Tonight one of the lovely ladies in the card group spoke about how her husband had been in a long term foster placement as a child.
And how it made such a positive difference in the outcome of his life.
I hope she doesn't mind me posting this, and I am aware they have all taken Emma's blog link, so may read this.
After hearing many people tell me since I " came out " all about adoption & about all the bad beliefs they have about it, how hard it will be, how we could get a child with so many problems, how it wont be the same as having our real baby.....it made such a nice change for someone to say, it can be a good thing, it can be a life changing experience for a child and now in her husbands case and adult life.....and you know what it really was something I needed to hear.
It really reminded me of a bloody good reason for adopting.

Because it will make a difference to somebody, not just me and Andrew, but a child.
Who will be our child.

That's a really good thought for the future....when it gets tough and I am under no illusion it will all be easy......it's something I should hang on to.

cards

I have enjoyed card making for some time now,
some of the things I make I really like,
some I think what a waste of paper & glue!
But mostly thats more about how I feel in myself
sometimes than the result of my card making efforts!
The above card I love, it's something I would never have done myself,
but was shown how to in card making class I have joined in town.
I found it difficult to take the plunge in joining a group,
still feeling nervous among new people.
I was just getting settled into the group and then due to changing Poppy's Puppy class night I moved to a Tuesday evening.
I met Emma there...I am settling right into the Wednesday class now.
And really enjoying what we make.
I need to take more pictures and keep a better blog....I think I have said that before and not done it.....ahhh well, tomorrow is another day!

gardening puppy!

A whole week off work and beautiful weather!
We spent it sorting the garden, laying some slabs and spreading gravel.

All helped by Poppy!

Almost a year old and a lot of mischief and a bigger load of fun!

Poppy La Poo

We got Poppy to be a wee pal to Gizzie after Tilly died.
I can't say the love that Poppy showed to Gizzie was returned.
In fact, sometimes I think she must have wondered what had we brought home!

I am so glad we had Poppy, as only three months after loosing Tilly, Gizzie died.

Poppy is a sweet, happy, smart, mad little labrador who we love to bits.

She is now 10 months old, and it feels like she has always been here.

Gizzie La Mo

we are gonna take Gizzie's ashes down to the river later on this evening, to scatter where we took Tilly's ashes last year.
We left a wee plaque there at a place others have burried much loved pets that says

Faithful Friend
Tilly.

will leave one for Gizzie's that reads

Feisty Friend,
Gizzie La Moo.

so. if you can, spare a thought for a loyal wee monster who loved life,
ignored the rules, a lived life to the full!

Two wee pals.....

in the box

I love crafting, card making and photos.
Then I found how to make these exploding boxes on line !

You take the lid off and inside is 12 pictures!

I have made three so far.

The first one I made was for my dear friend Nikki's Birthday.
It is all pinks and lilac's and has flowers and a butterfly on it.

Inside is pictures of her lovely girls Georgia & Bethany.

Robyn our eldest niece & her lovely fella Paul got engaged this month...
CONGRATULATIONS !!!

I found the beautiful red rose card and made this for them...

The pictures all have special meanings I hope to Robyn & Paul.
It is something they can look back on and
remember parts of this time in their lives!
I am an old romantic!

The ring you can see is by the designer who made Robyn's engagement ring !

And the red rose in the centre I made from card,
which the glue is still wet inside this one.

But it dried clear.

The fish n chips and
Champagne is to represent what the ate the evening the got engaged.

I loved the wee glasses sticker I found within my craft stuff, I had forgotten I had them!

The third one is for my Fiona's Birthday. We have been friends with for years.

Her Doggie Bailey is the brother of my lovely Tilly who died last year.

This one is a Poppy Birthday card,
containing pictures of my 10 month old black lab Poppy La Poop.

I love these cards.
